Re: [Mahagunpuram] VIDDHI TOWER CONDITION

I agree with Ashish as being a resident of Viddhi Tower I'm also facing/seeing these issues. Also, I would like to bring one more point to everybody's attention:

- The condition of Lift is so bad, It gives me a feeling that maintainence hasn't been done since ages. Though I always hear from Guard that Maintainence was done recently only.

I want to bring the below conditions of VIDDHI tower into notice of concerned authorities:

1.      Seepage on lot of floors outer walls and inner walls which can be seen easily everywhere and is very harmful for building life. This should not happen in a newly constructed building.

Effects of water seepage:

A. Leakage marks on wall / floor / roof gives shabby look to the users
and damages aesthetic look of the structures.

B. Leakages/dampness damages the structures by weakening the parent
component of the structure. It will affect the life and durability of
structures.

C. Leakages/seepages in buildings are responsible for corrosion of
reinforcement steel in RCC and thereby cause early failure of the RCC
member. Leakage/seepage in buildings is one of the most common causes
of corrosion of reinforcement steel. In the presence of moisture, the steel
reacts to for iron oxide and corrosion of steel takes place very fast. Thus
every care should be taken to ensure that the reinforcement bars are not
exposed to moisture.

D. Leakage can create unhygienic conditions in kitchen, bathroom, and
laboratory.

E. Dampness (caused by water seepage / leakage problem) causes molds,
mildew, dust mites, and other biological air contaminants. Mold (fungal)
and bacterial growth due to water seepage / leakage in building / property
could cause allergies, infections, asthma, toxic and irritant effects or other
health problems to occupants.

F. Damages wall plaster and creates dry rot.

G. Destroys doors, windows, other timber items and household articles.

H. It may cause bleaching and flaking of paint with the formation of coloured
patches.

I. It may cause damage to electrical fittings.

Hence water seepage in buildings should be detected and arrested to have a healthy life of
occupants and to increase the life of buildings.

There are several places where seepage can be found not only the above place.

2.      Missing Sign Board of "VIDDHI" Tower in the basement car parking.

3.      Outer cover missing.

4.      Faulty/Broken entry gate lights.
