Ghaziabad Metro getting delayed : Vaishali Extension

Guys,

I have got the following news from sources, which is sad; as it mentions about UP govt power department not helping promptly to remove high tension wires, which is going to delay the Phase I metro completion. (Consequently, phase II and III).

The seems to have budget problem also. Please read below:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
UPPCL would be responsible for any delay in Metro project

If things are going at the same pace, then it is quite certain that Vaishali Metro Extension project would be completed by May 2010. The ongoing work is said to be satisfactory, but if it is delayed, it would be only due to the negligence of UPPCL, since high-tension wires are still posing major obstructions," says GDA chief engineer and Metro rail co-ordinator Anil Garg.
He said that five electric poles are still to be shifted from the existing position, while one tower has been installed at the site. The information about all this must be furnished by the UPPCL. Until and unless that is done, he said, they won't be able to say definitely anything about the Metro extension project. So far no proper schedule has been declared by the UPPCL.
GDA sources said that they had not received any letter from the Power Corporation, despite sending reminders more than once. Thus, no schedule about the reshuffling of existing electric poles and installation of new towers has been fixed. On the other hand, both the working agencies -- DMRC and GDA -- have been making sincere efforts to complete this project on time. Officers of DMRC have been constantly telling GDA to get these high tension wires removed as soon as possible.
However Anil Garg said that it would take some time to shift those wires from one place to another. "We have been verbally assured by the Power Corporation that they might be shifted within three months, but we have requested the authorities to reduce the time limit," he said. Now there is no other option but to wait and watch.

PRESENT STATUS

Presently Animal Park, which is a proposed Metro Station site, has been evacuated. The existing power sub-station has also been shifted paving the way for the Metro project. DMRC has already set the alignment work from the Vaishali end and now elevated track is rapidly going to be built on the proposed site.
No further extension project from Vaishali is being discussed at this juncture. This may be due to differences among various departments about demarcation and other aspects of the project.
At several times GDA has asked other related agencies like Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam, Avas Vikas Parishad and UPSIDC to share the cost of the project. Recently, DMRC had asked GDA to remit the balance of Rs 80 crore.  Commenting on the issue, GDA Metro Coordinator Anil Garg said, "We would deposit the required money with DMRC." He also said that so far Rs 180 crore had been remitted to the DMRC.
The State Government is serious about the two proposed Metro projects, which was suggested by the GDA. According to GDA, the Indirapuram and New Bus Depot Metro projects would be divided into different departments. It looks like that the people of Noida and Ghaziabad would enjoy travel by Metro Rail in the near future.

Until and unless that is done, he said, they won't be able to say definitely anything about the Metro extension project.”
